A 19th century Dutch silver chamberstick. The chamberstick is a plain, round chamberstick with beaded rim and beaded thumb rest. The beaded rims are very fine and seem like tiny balls (or half balls) are attached. The chamberstick bears an inscription ” 19 September 1854-1879/ De Gezellen aan de Zwaan Jr en Koper ” which is probably a gift from fellow craftsmen. The chamberstick has the Dutch Hallmark but the exact date cannot be determined from the marks. However, the inscription dates it to 1875-1879. The diameter of the chamberstick is 9.5 cm and it is 5 cm tall. It weighs 80 grams.
