A mid 19th century German silver chamberstick. The chamberstick, one of a pair, (see #258) has the neo-baroque form and is set as a candle stick on a round tray which has 15 slightly raised sectors emanating from an inner imaginary circle in the tray. The candle holder stalk is abundantly decorated with volute scrolls, which contrast with the simple tray. The removable bobeche has 16 slightly lowered small sectors similar to the tray, The thumb rest is similar to a sector of the tray. The chamberstick has the 12 Loth sign (750 silver content) with a town sign letter E probably Erfurt or Erlangen. The chamberstick is 13 cm diameter, 8.5 cm tall and weighs 110 grams.
