An 1880-1890 German sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick is a Hanau Silver chamberstick, with a delightful square form embossed foliate with two figures. The decoration is repeated on each of the four sides of the chamberstick. The candle holder and removable bobeche are also highly decorated. The chamberstick, was probably made by Karl Kurz and Georg Roth (it is identical except for the bobeche to # 253), but it has no German signs except for the 930 silver content. The chamberstick was imported to London. The marks of DB, (David Bridge), F (import) R (date letter for 1892) and the London marks can be seen clearly. Each side of the chamberstick is 6.3 cm length, it is 5.5 cm tall and it weighs 55 grams
