248 English 19th Century Sterling Chamberstick

A rare 1809 Georgian sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick has a handle and not a finger holder, which is rare for English chambersticks of that period. The chamberstick has an emblem of a shield on its handle. It has the London silver and duty mark, (except for the lion which is rubbed out) with the letter O which could either be 1789 or 1809. This type of chamberstick could be a copy or replacement for an earlier 18th century chamberstick. See # 166 which has a similar oval shape and a similar candle holder. The chamberstick is 7 cm wide, 16 cm long (from edge to end of the handle), and weighs 80 grams.
