An 1819 English Sterling chamberstick. The rectangular chamberstick which was probably part of an ink stand has a repousse foliate decoration on its rim, its stem, its detachable bobeche, and its finger holder. Although the snuffer does not have the same repousse decoration it has the same original Sheffield marks as do the chamberstick and the bobeche. The chamberstick was made in 1819, by Thomas & John Settle who worked in Sheffield. It is 9 cm long, 7.3 cm wide (without the handle) and 5.5 cm tall. It weighs 160 grams.
