An 18th-century Italian silver chamberstick, made by Master Andrea Santini in Rome, 1790-1793. The chamberstick has a drip structure with its border decorated with small leaves. The circular base is slightly concave. In its center it rises up to support a circular, chalice-shaped candle holder, which repeats the decorative element from the border and at the top of the side has a plain strip with a repeating pattern. The stem has a small, smooth element for catching the dripping wax. On the handle, the piece is enhanced with embossed leaf and flower decorative elements around the initials F.B.. A candle-extinguisher typical of Italian and Spanish chambersticks is inserted underneath the handle. Triple crown with pouch in an irregular hexagon official stamp and guarantee of quality for 10 ounces and 16 denari equal to 889 1000, valid for Rome and in use during the years 1791-3. The chamberstick is 25 cms long, 9.6 cms wide, 5.2 cms high, and weighs 210 gms
