327 American 19th Century Sterling Chamberstick

An 1890’s American sterling traveling pair of chambersticks. The unusual pair of travelling chambersticks are in the form of circular boxes unscrewing to form the pair of chambersticks. The chambersticks are round and plain without any decoration except a light narrow repousse design on the outside rim. The candle holder and finger holder unscrew to enable enclosing them in the round bases which form the closed round container. The finger holders are marked with Sterling and the hall mark of the Mauser Manufacturing Company which operated between 1887-1903 in NY and was absorbed into Mt. Vernon Silversmiths in 1903. Each chamberstick has a diameter of 9 cm and is 5.5 cm high. One weighs 78 grams and the other weighs 66 grams.
