305 Spanish 18th Century Silver Chamberstick

An early 18th or 17th century Spanish silver chamberstick. The chamberstick or palmatoria (in Spanish) is plain with no adornments. The edges are made from thin rolled silver sheet and the candle holder is open ended with a saw like ending to facilitate the placement of the candle. The long handle (17 cm), has at the end a bent addition for holding the chamberstick and is connected by a chain to a pair of pincer-type extinguisher on a chain slotting into two brackets on the side the handle, which is typical of Italian and Spanish chambersticks of this era. The chamberstick is marked, allthough the mark is not recognized, and also has the silver test markings of old silver. The chamberstick might be from the city of Daroca , in the province of Zaragosa. The chamberstick is 27 cm long, 8.5 cm wide and about 3,3 cm high. It weighs about 220 grams
