224 Spanish 18th Century Silver Chamberstick

A 1740 (circa) Spanish silver chamberstick. The chamberstick is centered by a baluster pricket capital with a long rectangular handle terminating in shell and foliate motif. The long handle (18 cm), has a pair of pincer-type extinguishers on dependent chain slotting into two brackets beneath the handle, which is typical of Italian and Spanish chambersticks of this era. The makers Mark “C” over “DO” Barcelona. The chamberstick is 26.7 cm long and weighs 217 grams.
