An 1840’s French Sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick is round shaped with its rim made into four flowing banded sectors. The base, stem, candle holder and removable bobeche are all elegantly plain, with no decoration, however the silver has an unusual dull coloring. The finger holder is typically French with the long handle for the thumb and the finger holder underneath. The chamberstick is stamped with the Minerve and 1 for 950/1000 silver parts and the letters PQ and an oar between the letters in a diamond, the hallmark for Pierre Queille who was a silversmith in Paris between 1834-1846. The chamberstick has an 11.6 cm diameter with the handle extending an additional 6 cm. It is 7 cm tall and weighs 170 grams.
