An 1896 English sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick has a clover leaf design with relatively high “walls or rim. The tray is plain without any decoration, and the finger holder (which has a different shape from the rest of the chamberstick) rises from a wedge which is between two half circular forms of the chamberstick. The chamberstick is marked with the date letter N for Chester and the makers mark S.I.LD which are Stokes & Ireland Ltd (William Henry Stokes & Arthur George Ireland) registered in 1891. It is 8.5 cm long (including the finger holder), 7.7 cm wide and 1.8 cm high. It weighs about 35 grams.
