A 19th century French Gold Gilt chamberstick. This impressive chamberstick is a Gold Gilt church chamberstick of Gothic design. The rim has a unique design of branches and ellipsoid seeds while the base is lightly engraved with flowers and leaves. The unique hollow long handle opens at the edge to enable the carrying of a candle. Its candleholder is connected to the base with a typical French bolt of the period. It was sold by the Stanbrook Abbey prior to their move to North Yorkshire with #66. Its round base has a diameter of 16 cm with the handle extending an additional 17 cm. It is 8.8 cm tall and weighs 480 grams.
