An American 19th century Bronze Chamberstick. An exceptional figural bronze chamberstick depicting a cherub/putti holding the elaborate candle socket which looks like a cache pot. The detail and execution on this piece is superb. The chamberstick sits on three feet on an arrowhead shaped base which is decorated in geometric designs. The handle is equally elaborate with a scroll shape and flower details. The cherub/putti is exquisite with beautiful modeling throughout, from the top of his curly head to the to the leaf shaped bottom portion that he stands on. Identical silverplated chambersticks have been found with the early stamp of “Meriden B Company”with pictured scale. The chamberstick measures 14 cm long, 10 cm wide and 11 cm high. It weighs 500 grams.
