319 German 19th Century Silver Chamberstick

A 19th century silver German chamberstick. The chamberstick is dragon shaped with two spread wings. Its mouth is open with a long tongue or simulation of a flame exuding from its mouth. The candle holder and wax dripper are set on top of the dragon’s head. The dragon design and work is elaborate, it is scaled in parts and its tail ends in a flower. It stands on the two clawed feet and tail which curves upwards and serves as the handle as well. It is hallmarked 800 with the typical German mark after 1886, 800 with marks on either side, however, this mark is unknown. The chamberstick might have been gilded at one time. It is 11.5 cm long and 12 cm high. The chamberstick weighs 173 grams.
