29 English 19th Century Sterling Chamberstick

An 1829 English Sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick base is comprised of 3 detailed leaves with the naturalistic form which was used in this period in London as well as Birmingham (see number 270), as well as in other places in England. Its candle holder and snuffer are covered with leaves and flowers and the finger holder is plain with two plain loops each connected to one side of the chamberstick. It was probably used for melting sealing wax and is fully marked, for London, date letter of 1929 and the makers mark of Robert Hennell. The removable bobeche is also marked for London and the date letter mark for 1929. The chamberstick is 8 cm long, 6.5 cm wide, 4.2 cm high and weighs 42.5 grams
