263 American 20th Century Sterling Chamberstick


A 20th century American Sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick has an oval shape and the silver workmanship is remindful of the Arts and Crafts period. The only decoaration on the base is the rimwhich is wavy throughout its oval shape. The candle holder is also plain and the only decorated part is the handle which is in the shape of a leopard head. The chamberstick is marked with S.S k 900 and has a mark of an S within a star. This type of hallmark, although not idemtical, was used by The Frank Kursch and Son company which operated at the beginning of the 20th century. However the origin of this chamberstick is not certain. It is 14.5 cm long, 6.5 cm wide and 3.5 cm tall. It weighs 55 grams
