An 1839 Swedish silver chamberstick. The rims of the chamberstick at the base and the sconce have a matching embossed or relief decoration. The holder is constructed from two silver wires which end up in a decorated thumb rest. The chamberstick and removable bobeche have been impressed with matching Swedish solid silver hallmarks that read as follows, I 4 – Crowned Head – Three Crowns – G M. I 4 is the date letter for 1839, the Crowned Head is the town mark for Stockholm, the three Crowns is the Swedish National 830 standard solid silver mark and G M is the Swedish silversmith or makers mark of Gustav M?llenborg. The chamberstick measures11.8 mm across from the handle to the edge of the base by 9.9 cm across the diameter of the base and it stands 5.9 cm tall to the top of the candle holder. It weighs 110 grams.
