An 1838 Scottish Glasgow sterling chamberstick. The chamberstick is completely covered with an arabesque decoration with an egg and dart decoration on the rim. The reeded finger holder has thumb rest which is monogramed with a cartouche framed with a laurel wreath. The removable sconce is in the form of an open flower. The conical snuffer with a ball finial and a reeded edge is also decorated in the same style and is attached by the original silver link chain. Marks for Glasgow 1838, (the letter T) and RG & S for Robert Grey & Sons are on the sconce and chamberstick, the snuffer has the same marks but no letter date. The chamberstick width (including the handle) is 12.5 cm, its height is 7.5 cm. It weighs 125 grams
