201 Austrian 19th Century Silver Chamberstick

An unusual early 19th century Austrian chamberstick. The chamberstick is square but its corners have been taken out to which make it an octagon with 4 straight sides and 4 wavy sides, The rim is bent outwards, as is the top of the candle holder. The finger holder has a shell thumb rest (handle) extending from a curved finger holder. It stands on two feet and on an extension of the finger holder. The chamberstick mark is 13 loth (13/16 parts of silver) below the city mark, with the name of the maker Engel. It could be master Samuel Engel from Altofen = Obuda. The chamberstick has a length of 8 cm, and extends an additional 3.5 cm to the edge of the handle. It is 5.2 cm tall and weighs 120 grams.
