187 American 19th Century Sterling Chamberstick

A miniature American Sterling chamberstick. This is a miniature chamberstick, circa 1880, rare signed Wm. B. Kerr & Co. which was established in N.J in 1855. The miniature chamberstick seems to predate Kerr’s “American Beauty Series”. Its base is decorated with a head of an angel with wings and the finger holder is a dolphin like form. The candle holder and stem resemble a decorated antique column. The chamberstick is 7.6 cm long, 4.4 cm wide, 4 cm tall and weighs about 30 grams. The Kerr Co. was bought by Gorham in 1906.
