An 1891 miniature English chamberstick. This meticulously made miniature chamberstick is round with a raised tray, a removable snuffer, finger holder and a relatively long candle holder. It also shows the mechanics for raising the candle (not movable). The chamberstick was probably used as a demonstration sample or in a dollhouse. It has the Chester date letter H for 1891, and makers mark CS FS which are Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd, registered in 1887 and used 1891-1904. Its diameter is 4.5 cm, height 3.6 cm and it weighs about 12 grams.
